Celebrating his 70th birthday, Pearl Press have published a novel by Sir Gerry that could fit in both Fiction and Mind Body & Spirit genres. For that reason, Grania Litwin the Arts and Entertainment Feature Writer of Canada's Victoria Times has christened it 'a novel novel'.
'It is a unique approach, She says, 'I have never read anything quite like it – so for that reason alone I was intrigued and carried along by the storyline.
Sir Gerry, through Pearl Press, has published “Squaring Circles” and it is available in paperback @ £8.99 plus postage from www.pearlpress.co.uk and from www.squaringcircles.co.uk or from UK book shops. ISBN: 978-0-9568688-2-4
The book has a strong cognitive behavioural theme running through the story. In particular, it explores through the hero, Jonathan, common fears and anxieties we have about learning to draw and paint as an amateur. The story gives a sensitive insight into the way in which a pastime like art can change the way we see the world, feel about it and behave in it.
More than that, it helps explain some of the deeper cognitive issues which can inhibit us when trying to acquire any new skill or to take on a challenge.
Sir Gerry believes that with persistence we can unlock inhibiting forces in ourselves, to enable us to succeed at things like painting and drawing which we
had ruled out as impossible. These patterns were probably established when we were children,
It tells the emotional story of a seven day journey of self-discovery - from the Dark into the Light.

“This is a novel Novel! I have never read anything quite like it – so for that reason alone I was intrigued and was carried along by the story line. The hero is on a classic journey, but the approach is unique. I found it not simply interesting and thought-provoking, but intensely thought provoking. It is a warm, intriguing read with multiple layers of knowledge plaited into the story. It will likely spur positive change and raise inner awareness in many readers.

“I am really thrilled by this novel. I’ve found it very moving and it’s actually helped me. Reading this has made me want to relate more to people I meet even if it’s just a smile, because I know I often hold back. I actually tried it today and it worked! I found the end of the book and all the revelations very moving. It ends in an exciting and positive way. I liked too the book’s spirituality including the appreciation of the natural world, and taking time to consider its beauty and wonder.”

“I would definitely recommend this amazing book to others. I could relate many of the reflections in the book to my childhood and on into adulthood. I recognise now how relationships failed due to upbringing.”

“This is a book to savour. It makes an intimidating emotional subject palatable. Different in construction to a conventional novel, it is a great concept. It makes you stop and think. It has the power to enhance our way of thinking. I certainly encourage people to read it. This novel will not age with time and is a book to read again and again to remind us of the wisdom in it.”
